About

The Dome Sweden offers new and exciting opportunities for the future of Swedish sport.

The Dome Sweden Intl. is a purpose-driven company. Its goal is a multi-sports arena and public sports park in the Stockholm region where everyone is welcome, built and run sustainably, and financed together with investors, municipalities and partners who share that goal.

The design is based on the successful and award-winning Bourbon Beans Dome of Miki City near Kobe, Japan, by architect Endo Shuhei, who is part of the team.

The Dome Sweden’s philosophy

Sustainability, in its broadest sense, is a philosophy. It is a way of thinking and acting that takes into account not only the economic but also the environmental and social consequences of every decision. It must never be bolted on at the end of a decision-making process, but should be an integral part of a coherent strategy that considers, as far as is practically possible, the consequences of the decisions taken.

Sustainability: ESG performance and goals

The Dome Sweden prioritises environmental, social and governance (ESG) practice. Transparent governance structures and ethical decision-making ensure responsible management. The Dome Sweden is a conscious business that invests in everyone’s development, employees and members alike. Everyone should have the opportunity for physical activity; in a growing city, access to and proximity of sports facilities must therefore be secured.

Environment

The Dome Sweden’s construction and operation is sustainable through and through; it respects and promotes the environment and the surrounding nature.

Economy

The Dome Sweden creates jobs in many fields, promotes the growth of sports tourism and becomes a vector for business development in the region.

Social

The Dome Sweden encourages and promotes sports participation; it offers an ideal platform for sports education for young people and becomes a favourite place to meet. It teaches younger generations how to prevent diseases related to inactivity and strives for a healthier lifestyle.

Agenda 2030: thirteen goals we contribute to

The Dome Sweden is designed with the ambition of contributing to thirteen of the United Nations’ seventeen global goals, with a direct impact on six and a supporting impact on seven, from zero hunger, good health and gender equality to reduced inequalities, sustainable cities, life on land, peace and justice, and partnerships. The World Health Organization has established that physical activity has the potential to affect thirteen of the seventeen. The reasoning goal by goal, and how we will measure it, is on the impact page.

Goal by goal, and how we measure it

  • 2Zero hunger
  • 3Good health and well-being
  • 4Quality education
  • 5Gender equality
  • 8Decent work and economic growth
  • 9Industry, innovation and infrastructure
  • 10Reduced inequalities
  • 11Sustainable cities and communities
  • 12Responsible consumption and production
  • 13Climate action
  • 15Life on land
  • 16Peace, justice and strong institutions
  • 17Partnerships for the goals

In line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child

The Dome Sweden is fully in line with the four fundamental principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which is Swedish law since 2020:

  1. All children have the same rights.
  2. The best interests of the child must always come first.
  3. Every child has the right to survive and develop.
  4. Every child has the right to express their opinion.

Important social dimensions

What a strong sports movement, housed in one arena, does for a community:

  • Strengthens collective identities
  • Brings people together and improves self-esteem
  • Increases civic pride
  • Inspires children
  • Creates work experience in many fields
  • Encourages volunteering and increases participation in sport
  • Promotes well-being and healthy living
  • Promotes integration in general

Questions people ask before they get in touch

Who leads The Dome Sweden?
Founder and CEO Fabrice Mary, a former player and international tennis coach. He is the person you talk to when you contact the project.
What does purpose-driven mean here?
The Dome Sweden is a company whose reason to exist is more sports participation in the Stockholm region: grassroots sport, after-school clubs, classes that attract women, integration of new Swedes through sport and programmes for people with disabilities in every sport on offer. Returns and purpose are meant to go together, and sustainability is built into every decision rather than added at the end.
Which UN Sustainable Development Goals does the project address?
Thirteen: zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life on land, peace, justice and strong institutions, and partnerships for the goals. The project will have a direct impact on six of them and a supporting impact on seven. The reasoning for each is on the impact page.
